Q: What's different about
The Healing Arts Partnership?
A: We value holistic/natural (less
correctly called alternative) as well as conventional types of treatment.
This enables the development of a comprehensive treatment program that
takes advantage of a broader base of knowledge. This use of different
healing traditions can be particularly valuable if you suffer from complex
and chronic illnesses.
Q: What is "integrative
A: Integrative medicine is the approach
used by our doctors as we utilize conventional as well as holistic/natural
treatment approaches to find solutions to your health problems. Dr.
Marty Ross, for example,
works with herbs, nutritional supplements, prescription medicines, acupuncture,
cranial sacral therapy and intuitive medicine. This gives you more healthcare
options, and can lead to a treatment plan that's more effective
for you. It goes beyond merely medicating symptoms, to promote actual
Q: What is a naturopathic
A: One who is a licensed healthcare
professional who has taken rigorous post-graduate training at an accredited
school of naturopathic medicine. You can receive primary care and/or specialized
naturopathic care from this physician. A naturopathic physician's techniques
include both the modern and the traditional. Therapies range from the
most fundamental, like using food as medicine, to the more conventional.
A naturopathic practice incorporates a profound respect for the art of
medicine, reverence for the wisdom of nature, and use of the latest scientific
research, all working together to give you the best possible outcome.
Q: Are there alternatives
to pharmaceutical medicines
for my condition?
A: There may be. In many instances,
nutritional supplements or herbs can replace prescription medicine. Dr. Marty Ross is very
skilled at identifying the most effective of these alternatives, which
can often have fewer side effects and may cure the underlying condition.
Q: What is a "complex
A: It's a diagnosed or undiagnosed
cluster of symptoms that are recent or ongoing. Such illnesses are often
difficult to treat with conventional medical approaches alone, and may
show better improvement with integrated holistic and conventional care.
Q: I don't live in Seattle,
but I think your approach could help me. Do I have to be seen at The Healing
Arts Partnership to be treated by Marty?
A: After care is established at the
clinic with an in-person visit, follow-up consultations may be provided
through telephone conversations, in some instances. You can discuss this
with Marty during your first visit.
Q: Does Marty Ross treat
What treatments do they use?
A: Dr. Ross is an expert in diagnosing
and treating this complex illness. They use many different medicines,
herbs, supplements, and other healing methods. The Lyme
disease section has more specific answers about this condition.
Q: Does The Healing Arts
Partnership accept and bill insurance
A: Payment is required at the time
of each visit. VISA, MasterCard, or debit cards are options. You will
then receive an insurance invoice, including ICD-9 and CPT codes, that
you may submit to your insurance carrier for reimbursement. Check with
your carrier first for your policy coverage details regarding a "non-participating
provider." Marty is considered non-participating because
he has chosen not to enter into contracts directly with insurance companies.
Q: Why doesn't Dr. Marty
Ross accept insurance?
A: Insurance does not adequately
pay for the evaluation and management of the complex illnesses treated
by Dr. Ross. In his visits, the physician may spend 30 minutes in
follow-up visits and up to 1 hour in new patient visits. By not accepting
insurance Dr. Ross can take the time it requires to understand
your concerns and to develop solutions for your health care problems.
Q: How long will my course
of treatment take?
A: Complex illnesses take time to
properly evaluate and manage or treat. Marty will devote the
time necessary to understand your concerns, and find the treatment options
that will resolve your health-care problems. You'll see him for up to
an hour on the first visit and a half hour for follow-ups. A course of
treatment may take weeks or months, depending on your condition.
Q: Can I get IV Therapy even if I am not recieving other care at your clinic?
A: Yes. Although we are a specialty clinic, our IV services are available to everyone. Our doctors do not take the place of your primary care doctor. Our formulations are created by a doctor with special training in IV therapy and may be administed by our RN.
